Post

I have managed to post parcels to the UK from the main downtown post office, though it did take me three trips to the post office; the parcels made it to the UK in surprisingly good time but it was quite the hassle. Perhaps you can learn from my experience:

You need to go to the main building on the corner of Strand Road and Bogalay Zay (not the place where you collect parcels); take with you your sense of humour, a spare hour or two and whatever you want to post not wrapped up (I was posting presents and had to remove all the wrapping paper I'd struggled to find for customs checks. Here ended my first visit to the GPO.) They will provide you with a box. The counter you want is not near the door but part of the big U-shaped counter in the middle of the room. There are couriers in the same building, you don't have to use them.

There's a distinction between Parcels and Packages that I couldn't quite get to the bottom of but depending on the size of what you want to post you need to get the Parcel/Package distinction right. There are different counters (different parts of the main central counter) for Parcels and Packages - show them what you want to post and get them to help you work out if it's a Parcel or a Package.  I fell at this hurdle on my second visit and after filling in 3 or 4 forms for each package had to start again as it turned out I was posting parcels. Carbon copy paper is your friend. I think I got to 7 for each parcel/package by the end.

You will get passed around between a lot of people who have different roles (filling in ledgers, wrapping boxes in layers of tape etc) but as long as you're patient you should get there. And hopefully so will the parcel/package.
