Australian Football

For those keen to find a new sport, the Myanmar Fighting Cocks Australian Football Club train on a Saturday afternoon between 3-5pm. Our home ground and training venue is out at Star City in Thanlyin, but we have two buses people can take to get there – one leaves from Yangon University car park (University Avenue) at 1.30pm and the other from the Central Train Station car park at 2pm. The rugby and gaelic football clubs also train at the same time and there are beers/drinks following training. A bus returns to the Station at some stage afterwards.
Australian football is a unique combination of skills/tactics from rugby, basketball and soccer. Have a look at this clip – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqymJpIhpPY. It is a physical game, but extremely fast and exciting, and great for fitness!
There’s a great atmosphere out at Star City amongst all the clubs, so come along and try it out…no experience required. We also host a fitness session on Wednesday nights at the Australian Club.
